Aliphatic
ALIPHATIC HYDROCARBON, any chemical compound belonging to the organic class in which the atoms are not linked together to form a ring. The hydrocarbons of the alkane, alkene and alkyne series are aliphatic compounds.
Aliphatic hydrocarbons represent a substantial energy reserve but also constitute a useful feedstock for the biotechnological production. Most are flammable, allowing the use of hydrocarbons as fuel.
Aliphatic hydrocarbons are highly flammable and poisonous. All handlers of solvents must fully understand and observe the "Safety Data Sheet (SDS)" and use appropriate protective gear to prevent fire and leakage.
