Ketones
KETONES, any of a class of organic compounds characterized by the presence of a carbonyl group in which the carbon atom is covalently bonded to an oxygen atom. The remaining two bonds are to other carbon atoms or hydrocarbon radicals.
Ketones have good solvent properties for many polymers and adhesives. Carbonyl group in ketones allows high solvency for a wide variety of natural and syntetic resins. In addition to this, ketones generally have lower densities. These two features make ketones valuable solvent in the coating industries.
Ketones are highly flammable. All handlers of solvents must fully understand and observe the "Safety Data Sheet (SDS)" and use appropriate protective gear to prevent fire and leakage.

Acetone
- Used in the manufacturing of acrylic fiber, adhesives, machinery, paint, pesticide, printing, rubber, SBR latex, semiconductors, wood stains and varnishes
Cyclohexanone (CYC)
- Manufacturing of nylon
- Used in the manufacturing of esters and plasticizers
- Also used as stabilizer for soap productions
- Solvent in textile industries and paint and varnishes
Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK)
- Most important use in paints and coating industry
- It can also be used in rubber based industrial cements and printing ink
- It is also a solvent that is required for polymerization processing of chemical products such as SBR, polystyrene
Methyl Isobutyl Ketone (MIBK)
- Used as solvent in protective coatings
- Specialty adhesives
- Ink formulations
- Textile coatings
- Leather finishing
- It is also used in separation and purification of processes of metal ions
