Hungry Ghost Festival holds great cultural and spiritual significance in Chinese culture. During the month-long celebration of Ghost Month, Chinese communities come together to honor ancestors and appease restless spirits. Devotees believe that great merit and good fortune is attained by offering these poor hungry spirits some food and shelter during this time.

Riverbank Group hosted 2024 annual dinner on 10 May 2024 (Friday) at Trove Hotel, Johor Bahru. The theme for this year was Passion Hawaii Night and the event saw many participants dressing up in theme for an enjoyable evening.

Our members from Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar and Thailand gathered for this highly-anticipated event of the year. It is a time for Management and employees to reflect on the journey of the past year and to celebrate the many achievements and milestones.

There was a spread of food & wine and a lot of fun games organized by the Committee. Lucky draw prizes were the climax of the night! The ballroom was filled with whirl of excitement and endless of laughter.

This year Chinese New Year celebration was held on Feb 23, 2024 (Lunar 14) at Primechem JB & KL.

2024 is the year of the Dragon based on Chinese zodiac. This year of wood dragon starts from Feb 10, 2024 to Jan 28, 2025. Dragon, also called “Loong”, is the fifth in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac signs.

Chinese people regard themselves as descendants of the Chinese dragon and emperors entitled themselves exclusively as the 'dragon'. It is the token of authority, dignity, honor, success, luck and capacity.

Having lion and dragon dances are not merely festive entertainments; they are rituals with deep cultural significance, believed to drive away evil spirits and bring good fortune and prosperity to the community.

Hungry Ghost Festival aka Zhong Yuan Jie (中元节) is a month-long festival whereby Taoist and Buddhist communities burn paper effigies and present food offerings to the spirits of their deceased.

Riverbank Group has been conducting the 7th Month Festival prayer ceremony and lunch event annually for the peace and prosperity of our stakeholders.

One-day training session (Driver Familiarization Training – Hino) was organised for Logistic and Admin department employees on 4^th July 2020 at Primechem JB. The objective of this training is to enhance maintenance knowledge and safety awareness. Trainers from HINO HQ – Seremban were specially invited to train our drivers, Safety in-charge and Admin employees. The training comprises of theory and practical sessions. First, pre-theoretical tests and examinations were conducted in the morning. Trainers shared their knowledge about maintenance and lorries’ icon, Malaysia transportation laws, HINO history and how HINO supports or prepares, etc. Next, practical training began in the afternoon. Trainers demonstrated the correct way to start lorry, engine, change tyres, gasoline, brakes, batteries, and so on. Prior setting off for delivery, it is driver’s responsibility to perform checks on oil, water, batteries, tyres, etc to enable vehicle to operate safely and avoid unnecessary expenses and time. Primechem KL Branch yearly Chinese New Year celebration was held on the same day as JB branch, 06 Feb 2020 (Lunar 13). Similar to JB, the event was less festive. All the staffs celebrated together with buffet lunch and “Lou Shang” – raw fish salad, which is the cultural activity for Chinese living in Malaysia during Chinese New Year. Primechem JB Branch yearly Chinese New Year celebration was held on 6 Feb 2020 (Lunar 13) at Primechem JB. 2020 is the Year of the Rat in accordance to the Chinese zodiac. Rat is the first in the cycle of 12 Chinese zodiac signs. For this reason, 2020 marks the start of new beginnings. In view of the outbreak of COVID-19, the celebration was much simpler and less festive, especially with the absence of lion dance performance and Singapore team. The safety of our employees is always utmost importance. We hope that this outbreak will be over soon. February 6th, 2020

Hungry Ghost Festival is a time to make offerings of food, money and entertainment to wandering spirits in order to get the blessing and success in work and business. Our 2019 Annual Dinner Theme “The Olympic Night” represents Unity, Spirit and Pro-activeness. It embodies the spirit of all employees who are always full of energy, unity and motivation. There were interesting performances and programs such as fun sports games, sports-themed dance performances, best dress awards, greeting/door gifts, and lucky draw. The highlight of the event was the lucky draw with gifts consisting of Apple IPAD, 55-inch Samsung Curve TV, Bonia Watch, Cash, Vouchers, and so on. Ramadhan is a time for Muslims for spiritual reflection, self-improvement and heightened devotion and worship. During the month of Ramadhan, Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from dawn to sunset. This is called fasting. Charitable work can inspire your nearest and dearest to give to causes important to them and volunteering together help to make even more of a positive impact. The volunteers had many interactions, activities and programs for children on the charity day. Coloring is one of the activities that leave children's imagination free to roam. In Chinese culture, the pig symbolizes luck, wealth and good fortune. Lion Dancers, Big Head Dolls and God of Prosperity were invited to perform on the auspicious day to bring blessings, honor, prosperity and good luck to Riverbank Group . A team of lion dance from Chung Hwa High School performed a great lion dance, which had increased the Chinese New Year’s atmosphere. All the staffs celebrated together with buffet lunch and “Lou Shang” – raw fish salad, which is the cultural activity for Chinese living in Malaysia & Singapore during Chinese New Year. Riverbank Vietnam Oil Spill Training Course In line with Riverbank Chemical's bid to provide exceptional service with a high level of safety and commitment to the environment, Riverbank Vietnam conducted its yearly OIL SPILL TRAINING COURSE. We appreciate everyone's commitment and dedication in working together towards our goal. November 10th, 2016

This year, Riverbank Vietnam held its team building and company trip on the 14^th of October to the 16^th of October in Mui Ne, Vietnam. This tradition has been in place since the company first started and has continued since. We believe that this is an important part our company’s culture and is pleased with the outcome of this year’s team building and company trip.

A first for Riverbank Chemicals, we took part in a friendly badminton match between ourselves and Lubrizol Singapore. With the team comprising of members of Riverbank Chemicals Singapore and Primechem Malaysia, it was a good and hard fought match between Riverbank and Lubrizol. Despite the score line, we enjoyed ourselves tremendously and hoped that this will be the first of many to come. Special thanks to Lubrizol for their great planning an hospitality and we hope that the next time we play them again we will give them a much better competition.

Primechem Malaysia Sdn Bhd is committed to conduct its business activities in manner that prevents pollution to the environment; injury and ill-health to all its stakeholders. Therefore, a yearly in house fire exercise will be conducted for all staff to partake in.

This year’s Regional Sales Training was held in Malaysia at Renaissance Hotel, Johor Bahru. With colleagues from Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar coming together to share and learn from each other The training kicked off with a guest speaker and sales trainer to teach and speak to our colleagues on challenges that they face and how to overcome it. We then had a sharing session between our colleagues from the different region and finished off the night with a dinner and karaoke session.
